Enhanced Long-term Simulation of Hamiltonian Systems Containing a Strong Non-convex Potential

چکیده
Many physical systems exhibit rapid motion coupled to a slowly varying motion. Often the rapid motion is associated with a stii contribution in the potential energy function. In this context, the situation typically considered in the literature is the one with a strictly convex potential. Under some technical assumptions, one can then show that the slow motion is reproduced by a properly constrained system. In this paper we are concerned with a diierent situation: Often diierent timescales can be found because of many local minima and barrier crossing between these minima. We suggest here to replace the detailed motion in the minima and the local barrier crossings by a statistical model which is then coupled to the slow equations of motion over long periods of time. This leads to Langevin type equations of motion subject to an appropriate time transformation.

In this paper, first we study the weak and strong convergence of solutions to the following first order nonhomogeneous gradient system $$begin{cases}-x'(t)=nablaphi(x(t))+f(t), text{a.e. on} (0,infty)\x(0)=x_0in Hend{cases}$$ to a critical point of $phi$, where $phi$ is a $C^1$ quasi-convex function on a real Hilbert space $H$ with ${rm Argmin}phineqvarnothing$ and $fin L^1(0...
متن کاملRole of NMDA receptors and voltage-dependent calcium channels in augmenting long-term potentiation of the CA1 area in morphine-dependent rats
The involvement of NMDA receptors and voltage-dependent calcium channels in augmentation of long-term potentiation (LTP) was investigated at the Schaffer collateral CA1 pyramidal cell synapses in hippocampal slices of morphine dependent rats, using primed-burst tetanic simulation. The amplitude of the population spike and its delay were measured as indices of increase in postsynaptic excitabi...
متن کاملWaveform Design using Second Order Cone Programming in Radar Systems
Transmit waveform design is one of the most important problems in active sensing and communication systems. This problem, due to the complexity and non-convexity, has been always the main topic of many papers for the decades. However, still an optimal solution which guarantees a global minimum for this multi-variable optimization problem is not found. In this paper, we propose an attracting met...
متن کاملThe Evolution of Long-term Care Programs; Comment on “Financing Long-term Care: Lessons From Japan”
The need for long-term care (LTC) represents a “new social risk,” one that overlaps with and complements systems of care that pre-date such programs, complicating LTC program design. This commentary expands on Ikegami’s discussion of how these structural factors must be accommodated, as well as historical and cultural factors that influence public expectations of such a...
